Any woman or girl who is suffering from problems related to substance abuse should really consider getting into contact with the good people at The Orchid Recovery Center. This is an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center based in Southern Florida. It is a rehab center that caters specifically to female substance abuse patients. Most rehabilitation centers admit both male and female patients, but common sense tells us that there are concrete differences between the sexes. This has a detrimental effect on the process of rehabilitation for females, whose specific needs are ignored or under-served. There are separate reasons for abusing substances between women and men, so it is natural that the solutions to those problems would be different too.

Women can often be faced with social stigmas like shame and guilt. This often prevents them from seeking help when they otherwise would. Women are considerably more likely to have concurrent mental or self-esteem issues than men. Dr. Karen Dodge is the inventor and continual developer of a program known as the “Orchid Model”. This is the program used by the Orchid Recovery Center for all of their female patients. It places a heavy emphasis on the need for an interdependent network of females, who can provide support to their fellow patient.

My daughter Erin has just returned from The Orchid after 30 days plus detox. Her mother and I (her father) were delighted to see her. She has changed for the better and the reformation is obvious. On the day of her arrival home we attended an AA and Al-Anon meeting together. Erin has come to face life as it is in honest terms and is OK with it. The lessons learned at The Orchid and the “tools” that she left with to enable her to live a sober life are valuable assets. My sincere thanks and complements for an outstanding job and a wonderful program. Thank you for returning my beautiful daughter Erin to life and to us. The investment that made the Orchid possible for Erin was the best one of my life.

The Orchid
Alcohol and drug addiction has devastating effects. Rehabilitation is a difficult but successful way of breaking addiction cycles and gaining a healthier existence, physically, emotionally, and mentally. The Orchid is an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center that focuses on the special and specific needs of women.

Women and men experience life, culture and societal pressures differently. It follows that they enter into addictions differently and need individualized treatment to break these habits. The Orchid focuses particularly on unresolved trauma in a women’s life that may have lead to the addiction. For many women, that trauma has resulted in physical, mental or emotional abuse at the hands of men. In an exclusively feminine environment, women can recover from this trauma in a safe and loving environment.

The Orchid’s environment helps women to learn how to live daily life with drugs and alcohol. Forming healthy and supportive friendships is just as important as something so simple as doing the weekly grocery shopping without taking a drink or drug. The Orchid also teaches women the important of nutrition and exercise to healthy living. Exercise raises energy and self-esteem while nutrition helps to heal the physical body, which could be severely damaged as a result of alcohol and drug use.

If you or a loved one needs to heal in a safe and loving atmosphere, the Orchid can help.
